The Dota 2 EWC 2026 grand final is today, July 19, at 16:30 CEST in Paris — and it’s not the final anyone expected a month ago. Neither defending champions Team Spirit nor Falcons, chasing a TI2025+EWC double, made it this far: both were eliminated in the quarterfinals. Instead, PARIVISION and BetBoom Team will play for $750,000 out of the $2 million prize pool.
How the favorites went out before even reaching the semis
Team Falcons closed the group stage 9-1 — I covered that in the group stage piece — and were considered the top contender for a historic TI2025+EWC combination in one season. In the quarterfinal they were swept clean by Vici Gaming — the same team that got a walkover win a week earlier after PTime’s disqualification. Team Spirit, the defending EWC champions, also didn’t survive the quarterfinal, losing to Team Yandex on July 16, the same day PTime was officially removed from the tournament. Back in my Tier 3 days, favorites collapsing like this wasn’t unheard of, but both top contenders going out on the same day is rare even for a single-elimination bracket.
PARIVISION’s road: from Rune Eaters to a comeback against Yandex
PARIVISION beat Rune Eaters in the quarterfinal on July 17, then faced the same Team Yandex that had just knocked out Spirit in the semifinal. The series was uneven: PARIVISION took the first map in 31 minutes, Yandex leveled it with a 66-minute win — a notably longer game — and PARIVISION closed out the decisive third map in 38 minutes. Final score 2-1 for PARIVISION. The roster — Satanic, No[o]ne, Noticed, Dukalis, and 9Class — has stayed unchanged since last season, which on a scene known for constant roster churn is itself a sign of stability.
BetBoom’s road: the only team with zero playoff losses
BetBoom Team beat Nigma Galaxy in the quarterfinal, then swept Vici Gaming 2-0 in the semifinal — the same Vici Gaming that had just knocked out tournament favorite Falcons. Right now BetBoom is the only finalist that hasn’t dropped a single map in the entire playoff bracket. That’s a stat you can’t ignore, even if analysts still rate PARIVISION as the stronger roster on paper.
What’s being said before the final
The analyst consensus going into the series has PARIVISION as favorites, with a caveat: BetBoom could easily steal a map or two given their flawless playoff form. Sofascore/Tips.GG point to a clear confidence lean toward PARIVISION but stop short of calling it a lock — the context is too different: PARIVISION have already been pushed by a comeback, BetBoom haven’t been under any pressure yet.
